Can anyone send me the solution and/or answers for this problem? Asked in Kazakhstan Team Selection test 2017
Draw two arbitrary electric field lines 1) which are very close to each other, 2) the electric current dI between them is constant (i.e. \vec j is an unknown function of coordinates, but, for the sake of simplicity, we will state the condition \oint \vec j\cdot d\vec S = dI across the arbitrarily taken width of this piece of metal sheet). When you integrate the Ampere force throughout the piece, you will see that the final expression of the net force is actually fairly simple.
P.S.
Me and @Ersultan discussed this problem a year ago, and tbh the idea of the Ampere force not dependent on the shape of the conductor still confuses us. Maybe that’s the tricky point one should grasp.
